Helping More Customers invest in Renewable Home Improvements
We’ve been approved as a lender in the first wave of the government’s Warm Homes Loan Scheme, helping homeowners and private landlords access lower-cost finance for renewable energy and low-carbon home improvements.
The scheme forms part of the government’s wider Warm Homes Plan and is designed to make technologies such as solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps more affordable. Through government support provided to approved lenders, eligible customers can benefit from reduced-rate finance when funding qualifying installations.
Installations must be completed by an MCS-certified installer, the recognised industry standard for renewable installations.
As a specialist. Lender with extensive experience in home improvement finance, we see the scheme as an important step in tackling one of the biggest barriers to adoption: upfront cost.
Dave Hindle, our CEO, said:
“Demand for solar, battery storage and heat pumps continues to grow, but upfront cost remains one of the biggest barriers for many households. Approval under the scheme allows us to offer more affordable finance options, helping customers invest in technologies that can reduce energy costs and improve energy efficiency. At the same time, it gives our installer partners another powerful tool to help more customers move forward with their projects.”
Making Renewable Home Improvements More Accessible
Many homeowners want to invest in renewable technology but face a difficult choice between the initial cost of installation and the long-term benefits. Whether they’re considering solar, battery storage or a heat pump, the scheme can make that decision easier by reducing the cost of borrowing. Spreading the cost through fixed monthly repayments can help more households invest in improvements that may lower energy bills and increase energy independence.
For us, success means:
• Enabling more renewable installations across the UK
• Helping customers access technologies that may previously have felt out of reach
• Supporting installers and introducers to convert more enquiries into completed projects
• Reducing cost barriers for households
• Supporting the transition to cleaner energy
Supporting Installers and Introducers
For installers and introducers, affordability has often been the difference between customer interest and customer action. Offering government-supported, lower-rate finance through an approved lender gives more customers a realistic way to move forward with their plans.
This could mean:
• Improved enquiry-to-installation conversion rates
• More customers able to proceed with projects
• Fewer installations lost due to cost concerns
• Access to lower-cost finance options for customers
As demand for renewable technologies continues to grow, access to the right finance will play an increasingly important role in turning interest into installations.
A Growing Opportunity for the Green Home Sector
The Warm Homes Loan Scheme is one of the most significant developments in green home finance in recent years, bringing together government support and responsible lending to widen access to renewable technologies.
As one of the lenders in the first wave, we are proud to combine our specialist lending expertise with government support to help customers, installers and introducers unlock more opportunities to invest in cleaner, more energy-efficient homes.
